December 29, 2018The Chatsworth Community Center is a center for community gathering and recreation in Los Angeles. It is situated on Devonshire Street in Chatsworth. The site is near the Minnie Hill Palmer House, a former homestead acre.
A new $15 million multi-use community hub is in the works. The township is seeking federal and provincial funding for the project. Mayor Scott Mackey is optimistic about the outcome of the application. He is planning to put up 27 per cent of the funds for the project. If the project receives funding, the hub will include a walking track, community hall and ice surface. South East Grey Community Health Services will also have a room in the hub.
In addition to the proposed project, the Chatsworth Township has also received two donations of land. One will be used for a community hall and one for an ice surface. The township will apply the money raised from the community fundraising campaign to help pay for the project. They will also take out a long-term debenture to cover the rest of the costs.
The Chatsworth Chamber of Commerce has been active in bringing in new business to the township. This summer, the organization is holding a blood drive. Additionally, the organization has a website and an online farmers market. There are artifacts from old Chatsworth.
A community task force was formed to create a Recreation Master Plan. The master plan recommends the creation of a new multi-use community hub. It outlines the needs of the community’s parks and recreational facilities.
Chatsworth’s council has endorsed conceptual drawings for the project. The township has submitted a funding application to the federal-provincial Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund. In addition, the township has retained the services of a professional grant writer. After the funding application is approved, they will then apply the money raised to the project.
The new hub will be a great asset to the community. Not only will it provide a venue for activities such as concerts and ice skating, it will also be a convenient location for community meetings. While the cost of the facility is estimated to be $15 million, the township is confident that the community will be able to raise the funds needed to build the new hub.
