Chatsworth Park North is a great place for a family outing. It features a children’s playground, an outdoor basketball court, and easy hiking trails. There are also three baseball diamonds to play on. Plus, you can enjoy a picnic area with barbecue pits. The park is maintained by the Los Angeles Parks Department.
Although the city has not provided a time frame for the re-opening of the park, there is a lot of work that is currently underway. A cleanup of the contaminated site is expected to be completed by the end of the year, although the exact date is still unknown.
The site has been closed for a number of years, but there are plans to open it again. Work will be done in a phased fashion. The first phase will consist of a grading of the 21-acre property. This grading is intended to channel storm water away from the Rockpointe neighborhood.
Another phase will involve remediation. Remediation will involve laying a one-foot cap of imported materials over the soil. This work will take several months to complete. However, the city expects to be able to open the park by the end of the year.
In addition to the re-opening of the park, the area will be regraded. Some of the trees will be cut down, and new ones will be planted. Most of the trees cut down were non-native trees. But, there are some large sycamore trees that have been left intact.
While the City of Los Angeles has not stated a specific date, it is expected that the work will be complete by the end of 2016. The Parks Department has engaged a contractor to carry out the cleanup. During the process, the soil will be removed, and drainages will be sculpted and reconstructed.
A new site is being developed in Chatsworth: Sage Ranch Park. It is located near Santa Susana Field Laboratory. Visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic views of Simi Valley, while taking in the natural beauty. Sage Ranch Park is also a great location for hiking.
In addition to Sage Ranch Park, there are several other parks in the area. These include Stoney Point Park, which is popular with hikers and equestrians. The park has several hiking trails and large boulders. Streams and caves are also a part of these hiking trails.
There are seven public schools in the area. Several private schools also exist. One school, the Mason Child Care Center, has an indoor gymnasium. An estimated 60 school-age children can use the facility.
The Iverson Movie Ranch is also in Chatsworth. This was a location used for over 2,000 films. Also, the town has an art museum called Artvanta, which exhibits modern artworks from all over the world.
