December 9, 2018Located in an industrial park in Los Angeles’ sidestreets,Chatsworth, Hand-Brewed Beer is a relatively new brewery. The aptly named brewhouse is in the works to secure a home in the San Fernando Valley. Its taproom has 12 taps, and there’s also a growler program, in case you want to take your pilsner or porter home with you.
Although a little less than a year old, Hand-Brewed Beer is already making a name for itself in the brewing world. The company specializes in the sweet Vanilla Raspberry Bourbon Porter, and they’ve got an eye on the IPA market. They’ve also got a mug-worthy stout if that’s what you’re after. A five-ounce taster will set you back $3. On the other hand, they offer a slew of snazzy swag that includes a bottle opener and an apron.
The Hand-Brewed Beer’s in Chatsworth signature stout is also available on tap at several nearby bars, including Crazy Harry’s, On The Thirty, and West End Tavern. They’ve also got a snazzy tasting room, aptly named the Tasting Room, where you can sample all of their offerings at once. They’ve also got a plethora of other beverages to choose from, including beer cocktails, ciders, and wine. And if you’re in the mood for a bite to eat, the tavern’s menu has it all.
There are plenty of other worthy finalists, but Hand-Brewed Beer in Chatsworth is one of the few that can give us the giddy-up. They have a snazzy looking cinder-block facade, and a slick menu of craft beers, a few tees, and a handful of other swag to boot. Besides their tasty brews, they’ve got a fun staff and a few interesting quirks. For instance, their sign is a clever mashup of a beer bottle, a wine cork, and a plastic cup. And they’ve got a nice little all-gender bathroom.
There’s a plethora of other impressive feats to behold, like a well-conceived’me’ room, a nice display of art, and a plethora of board games. Besides the ol’ drinking game, they’ve got a mug-worthy swag program where you can fill your own growler. The cost is $10 to $14. And it’s probably the best thing to do on a Saturday night. Besides being a blast to hang out with, the best part of it is knowing that you’re helping to support a small startup.
If you’re in Chatsworth, make the trip for a drink and a scrumptious meal.
