December 9, 2018Located in Chatsworth, CA, the Cowboy Palace Saloon is a venerable institution that’s still going strong after 31 years in business. The place isn’t exactly slick, but it’s still clean enough to make you want to wear a cowboy hat and not a blazer. The place is still the place to go to see and be seen, and has a decent stage for a band to play on. In a nutshell, it’s a good place to drink, dance, and take in some of the area’s best country music.
The Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth has a rich history, but the real kudos goes to its current owners, Bill and Marjorie Holmes. Their longstanding commitment to keeping the venue clean and up-to-date has kept the storied abomination in business for nearly four decades. They’re a dynasty in their own right. The eponymous Holmes aren’t shy about sharing their impressive collection of celebrity photos, which includes the likes of Charlton Heston and Paul Newman, to name but a few.
The Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth is also home to one of the state’s most interesting – and unique – bartenders. He is the unofficial spokesman for the bar, which is a veritable buffet of the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s a good bet that he’s been a fan of the place for as long as the pair have been in business. Aside from his work, he’s also an accomplished actor and writer. A true blue jean wearing cowboy shows up on a regular basis.
The Cowboy Palace has an impressive list of accolades, from the likes of Willie Nelson to the triumvirate of Chuck Conners, Willie B, and a host of other luminaries. It’s no surprise that the saloon is a favorite amongst the locals. During its heyday, it was the premier entertainment destination for the plethora of people who worked in the area. The venue has a few ups and a few downs, but the good times are still in session. The venue is a fun and festive place, and the community is grateful for the continued hospitality of the owners. It’s not all doom and gloom – the club has some big plans in the works, including a revamped interior. The rumored re-opening is expected in phase 4, but that’s as far as the place will go for the time being. The Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth is the place to be if you are in the mood for a good time, good food, and great drinks. The best part is that it’s all within walking distance of many of the city’s top attractions.
